Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

By Caitlyn Hanson

Servings: 4-6              Total time: 10ish minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons fresh chives or 2 tablespoons of dried chives **
  • ½ cup full fat Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise*
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder or 2 cloves garlic, roasted and minced
  • 1 teaspoon mineral salt
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder (or more to taste) **
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper **
  • 2 teaspoons dried dill **
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon of lemon juice (optional but does preserve dressing longer)

Instructions

Mince chives and place in a medium mixing bowl. Combine all ingredients in medium mixing bowl and whisk until well combined. Use immediately or place in air tight container for up to 3-4 days in the refrigerator. If using dried chives, allow the dressing to sit for 5 minutes to allow dried chives to soak up some of the liquid from the buttermilk.

Update! I've have several people ask how to make this dressing into a dip. Increase the Greek yogurt to 3/4 cup and add additional seasoning as needed to maintain your desire amount of flavor. Adding the extra yogurt will cause the dressing to be more formed which is perfect for dipping veggies, meats, or chips in!

As always, shopping for organic options will help you to reap the greatest benefit from your food while also limiting exposure to pesticides, herbicides, and antibiotics.

* Our favorite mayonnaise is Primal Kitchen’s Avocado Oil Mayo. This mayo is free from soy, canola, grains (including gluten and corn), sugar, and dairy.

The link above is for Amazon.com. We typically shop for the mayo at Thrivemarket.com as it is less expensive than at Amazon.com or Whole Foods. If you don't have mayo that is free from processed oils, try using plain yogurt instead!

** For herbs, we prefer to purchase ours on Mountain Rose Herbs. I love this company because of all of the organic options and their transparency with the location of origin for each herb. They also offer a bulk discount!

Enjoy! You are worth more than mediocre. You are worth exceptional health!
